New Delhi, May 27 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today on his birthday. Prime Minister Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), Birthday wishes to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is making notable contributions towards upgrading critical infrastructure in India. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.

Nitin Gadkari is a visionary and capable administrator with an innovative approach. He believes in achieving results. Born in Nagpur, Gadkari was deeply influenced by his mother. He also drew inspiration from joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and dedicating himself to nation-building from a young age. The period of the Emergency in June 1975 was a significant turning point in his life, as he decided to dedicate his life to the service of the country rather than pursuing a legal career.

He entered politics as a student leader in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and later joined the BJP's youth wing, the Janata Yuva Morcha. Former BJP president Gadkari served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1999-2005. As the Public Works Minister in Maharashtra, he oversaw the construction of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Two of his accomplishments stand out particularly. He took the initiative for the concept of public-private partnership (PPP) in infrastructure development, which is the basis of the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model. Completing mega projects within deadlines is also a priority for him.
