Delhi, 27 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the Urban Development Year 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Tuesday, celebrating two decades of structured urban transformation. The event, scheduled for 11 a.m., aims to outline the next phase of the state's urban strategy, solidifying Gujarat's position as a leader in urban planning, clean energy, and infrastructure innovation. PM Modi will address a gathering of top state officials, urban planners, and sector stakeholders.
During the event, he will inaugurate key projects related to urban development, healthcare, and water supply, and launch the State Clean Air Programme to combat air pollution. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Indian Railways' modern Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Dahod, which will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives for domestic use and export. The Prime Minister will also flag off the first electric locomotive from the plant, expected to enhance the efficiency of freight transport.
Furthermore, over 22,000 housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be allocated, with Rs 3,300 crore released to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, supporting Gujarat's integrated urban development model.
Earlier on Monday ,PM Modi's Bhuj road show emphasized India's zero-tolerance against terrorism, reinforced by Operation Sindoor, warning that those spilling Indian blood will face consequences.
