New Delhi, May 26 (HS): Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, the Maldives' Foreign Minister,is on a visit to India from 25-27 May 2025. On 26 May, he led the Maldives in the 2nd India-Maldives High Level Core Group (HLCG) meeting focused on advancing the India-Maldives Vision Document regarding Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership. The discussions aimed to enhance political exchanges, defense and security cooperation, development partnerships, trade, economy, health, and people-to-people connection.
Dr. Khaleel condemned the April 2025 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, expressing solidarity with India and support in the fight against terrorism. He also thanked India for its emergency financial assistance to the Maldives, which positively impacted Maldivians. Additionally, Dr. Khaleel held bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, covering mutual interests. Plans were made for the 3rd HLCG meeting to occur in Male, affirming Maldives' role as a key partner in India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy and enhancing bilateral ties.
