Delhi, 26 May (H.S.): India participated in the 9th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting on May 21, 2025, in Brasília, Brazil, centered around the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” The meeting brought together Industry Ministers and representatives from all BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa—and new members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. A Joint Declaration was adopted, highlighting a collective commitment to enhancing a fair global environment, strengthening the multilateral system, and improving economic resilience.

India introduced the BRICS Startup Knowledge Hub on January 31, 2025, aimed at fostering cross-border collaboration and boosting startup ecosystems among member countries. It encouraged all BRICS nations to engage with this platform for exchanging policy insights and innovations. India also emphasized the importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), noting that they employed over 25 crore people and contributed significantly to exports.

The Ministers discussed enhancing industrial cooperation for sustainable growth, with innovation and technology being pivotal under Industry 4.0. India's Digital India initiative has made it the largest digitally connected democracy, increasing internet users substantially. India concluded by urging BRICS members to adhere to values of collaboration, harmony, inclusiveness, and consensus in future cooperative efforts.
