New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): The Sessions Court at Rouse Avenue in Delhi has postponed the hearing on the petition filed by Delhi's Law Minister Kapil Mishra challenging the magistrate court's order for an investigation in the 2020 North East Delhi riots case. Special Judge Digvijay Singh has ordered that the next hearing in the matter be held on May 31.
During the hearing on Monday, the complainant in the case, Mohammad Ilyas, filed a response in the magistrate court opposing Kapil Mishra's plea. During the hearing, Delhi Police sought time from the court to file a response. Subsequently, the court directed the Delhi Police to file their response by May 31. The court has extended the stay on the magistrate court's order for an investigation in this matter until further notice. Earlier, the sessions court had issued a notice to the petitioner in the magistrate court by staying the magistrate court's order on April 9. The magistrate court at Rouse Avenue had ordered an investigation against Kapil Mishra in connection with the Delhi riots. This order was given by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia. Previously, the Karkardooma court had also directed the registration of an FIR against the SHO of Jyoti Nagar police station for negligence in Kapil Mishra's case.
