Chennai, 25 February (H.S.) : The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) has strongly criticized the Tamil Nadu government's decision to cancel the pension of medical officers, citing it as a regressive move that undermines the welfare of government doctors.
The TNGDA, which represents over 15,000 government doctors in Tamil Nadu, has expressed deep disappointment and frustration with the government's decision, which they believe will have far-reaching consequences on the morale and well-being of medical officers.
The association has demanded that the government reconsider its decision and restore the pension benefits to medical officers, emphasizing that this is essential for ensuring the attractiveness of government service and retaining talented medical professionals.
The TNGDA has also pointed out that the cancellation of pension benefits is inconsistent with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which aimed to enhance the retirement benefits of government employees.
We urge the government to reconsider its decision and prioritize the welfare of government doctors, who have been serving the state with dedication and commitment, said Dr. K. Senthil, President of the TNGDA.
