Pune, 26 Feb (HS):- The baggage of three students on
a Dubai trip was used to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs 3.47 crores. The
illegal transport of about four lakh US dollars was detected at the Pune
airport.
According to the Excise Department officials, a
person concealed the money in two trolly bags and loaded in a SpiceJet flight
on February 17.On getting the
information the Excise Department officials called back the passengers and
found four lakh US dollars.
The students told the inquiry officers that the bags
were given by their travel agent Khushbu Agrawal at Pune. The Dubai trip was
booked by the students through Agrawal. The bags were handed over to them at
the airport. She stated that the bags contain official documents and are
required to be handed over to her Dubai office.
The Excise Department called back the passengers and
searched their baggage. Further investigation is in progress.
