Kolkata, 26 February (H.S.) : With an eye on the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations to challenge Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Learning from its 2021 defeat, the party has devised a large-scale strategy to strengthen its organizational structure and establish a deeper connection with voters.
A senior BJP leader, in an exclusive conversation with Hindusthan Samachar, revealed that the party is focusing on fortifying its internal framework. In the 2021 elections, many leaders from other parties had joined the BJP but left soon after the results. This time, the party is being highly selective and is relying solely on committed party workers.
State President to Be Announced by the Second Week of Marchi.
The BJP leader further stated that the party is gradually completing its internal electoral processes. While the names of mandal (block-level) presidents have already been declared, the appointment of district presidents is in its final stages. The official announcement of district presidents is expected by the first week of March, followed by the declaration of the state president within a week. Once the state president is appointed, the BJP will go all out with its election campaign across West Bengal.
According to the BJP leader, the party has enrolled 50 lakh new members, representing 50 lakh families across the state. The BJP believes that if it secures the support of this voter base and manages to capture at least one-third of the total votes, it stands a strong chance of coming to power.
To achieve this, the party is planning an extensive outreach program. Additionally, the BJP is gearing up for large-scale protests against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Senior leaders have hinted at launching aggressive movements on the streets to challenge the policies of Mamata Banerjee’s administration and sway public opinion in favor of the BJP.
As the political battleground for 2026 heats up, it remains to be seen how effective the BJP’s strategy will be in West Bengal’s high-stakes electoral contest.
