Amit Shah slams Mamata Banerjee over infiltration and economic decline

Kolkata, 30 December (H.S.):

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce attack on the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal during a press conference held in Kolkata on Tuesday. He alleged that infiltration has become a serious problem in the state, and despite this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is promoting Bangladeshi infiltration for electoral gains. Amit Shah said that the people of West Bengal are concerned about infiltration, and if the BJP forms the government in the state, not only will the infiltrators be identified, but they will also be expelled from the state.

Amit Shah claimed that the West Bengal economy has witnessed an unprecedented decline during Mamata Banerjee's tenure and industries are leaving the state. He said that the Trinamool Congress has surpassed even the Leftists in the politics of fear and violence. Shah expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government in West Bengal in the 2026 assembly elections, and after coming to power, the party will not only stop infiltration from the eastern borders but also pave the way for the resurgence of Bengal.

In the press conference, Amit Shah said that the people of Bengal have given opportunities to the Congress, then the Leftists, and then the Trinamool Congress to govern. Now it is time for the people to give the BJP a chance. In response to a media question, he also assured that all existing welfare schemes will continue after the BJP government comes to power in the state. He also promised that all the promises made by the BJP will be implemented on the ground.

Citing economic data, the Home Minister said that before the Communist rule and the Trinamool government, West Bengal's per capita income was 127 percent higher than the national average. Today, the situation is such that while an average citizen of the country earns Rs 100, a citizen of Bengal earns only Rs 73. The Mamata Banerjee government will have to answer for this. He said that once upon a time, all kinds of industries started from the soil of Bengal, but today, due to corruption, infiltration, and extortion, industries are leaving the state. Amit Shah also criticized the state government regarding the central government's schemes. He said that the Trinamool government fears losing its vote bank, which is why it has not implemented the central schemes. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was implemented late, resulting in a loss of approximately ₹10,000 crore for the farmers of Bengal. Furthermore, the Ayushman Bharat scheme has not been implemented in the state to this day.

On the issue of violence, the Home Minister said that the country had hoped that violence and the politics of revenge would end in Bengal after the communist rule, but the opposite happened. He alleged that more than 300 BJP workers have been murdered during the Trinamool government's tenure. After the 2021 assembly elections, nearly 3,000 BJP workers are still forced to live as displaced persons and are unable to return to their villages.

Amit Shah concluded by reiterating that the BJP will restore law and order in West Bengal, stop infiltration, and bring the state back to the forefront of development and industry in the country.
