Ramayan Research Council prepares comprehensive research-based literature on Mahakumbh

New Delhi, 30 December (HS): The Ramayan Research Council has prepared what it described as the most comprehensive, research-oriented and visually rich literature on the Mahakumbh to date. Titled ‘Mahakumbh ka Mahamanthan’, the cover of the publication was released by the Council, which said the first copy of the book will be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Council Secretary Pitambar Mishra said the objective of the publication is to preserve the spiritual, cultural and historical knowledge associated with the Mahakumbh for future generations, enabling research, reference and academic study. He said the book contains detailed information on the Mahakumbh, the traditions of akharas, and the spiritual significance of ritual bathing. The concept of the book was presented by 11-year-old Bal Vyas Vaidehinandan Pandit Vedant.

According to Mishra, the publication also includes views and reflections of the Prime Minister, the Akhara Parishad leadership, and several senior officials and former principal secretaries from various departments of the Uttar Pradesh government.

National Youth Convener of the Council Jayram Viplav said the literature presents, in a systematic manner, the preparations, organisation, execution and global message of the Mahakumbh. He claimed that no such comprehensive and aesthetically presented documentation on the Mahakumbh had been available earlier. He added that a dedicated website, www.mahakumbhinfo.com, has been developed for the digital dissemination of all related material, which will be made available online soon.

Council Trustee Dev Ratna Sharma said the book has also been published in English to present this historic Sanatan tradition-based event at the international level. He added that efforts are being made to preserve such literature in leading libraries across the world.

Trustee Amar Agrawal said that during the Mahakumbh held at Prayagraj in 2025, the Council was allotted space in Sector-23 by the Prayagraj Mela Authority, for which he expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He said the coffee table book has been published to keep the Mahakumbh alive in public consciousness. Mishra added that similar research-based documents will be prepared in the future for Kumbh Melas to be held in Nashik, Haridwar and Ujjain.
