Chennai, 29 December (H.S.) : Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr. S. Ramadoss on Monday launched a scathing attack on his son and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, asserting that the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections would deliver a befitting reply to his defiant actions.

Speaking at the party's general council meeting in Salem, the senior leader accused Anbumani of systematically weakening the movement and failing to uphold the values that the party was built upon over decades of struggle and sacrifice.

The general council meeting, which the Anbumani faction had previously termed unauthorized, saw Dr. S. Ramadoss being unanimously re-elected as the party president. This move follows a period of intense internal conflict during which the founder had already removed his son from the primary membership of the party.

During the session, the council also appointed the founder's daughter, Sreegandhi Parasuraman, as the working president, further consolidating the senior leader's control over the organizational structure.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. Ramadoss expressed his disappointment over the decline of the party’s electoral performance, noting that its representation had dropped from twenty legislators to a state where its official recognition and symbol were at risk.

He pointed to Anbumani’s low attendance in Parliament and alleged lack of hard work as primary reasons for this setback. The senior leader stated that this battle was not a mere family feud but a fight to protect the soul of the PMK from irresponsible leadership.

Honorary President G. K. Mani and legislator R. Arul also addressed the council, slamming Anbumani for his anti-party activities and for going against the founder’s wishes. They maintained that Dr. S. Ramadoss remains the sole authority to decide on election alliances.

Despite the legal disputes currently pending regarding the leadership, Dr. S. Ramadoss expressed confidence that the party would secure at least twenty five seats in the forthcoming polls and regain its lost political prominence.
