Ahmedabad, 24 December (H.S.): Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan unleashed a ferocious century off just 33 balls for Jharkhand against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday, demolishing the bowlers with ruthless aggression and decisively tilting the match in his team's favor.
This explosive knock marks the second-fastest List A hundred by an Indian batsman, trailing Bihar captain Sakibul Gani by a solitary delivery; Gani had earlier smashed a 32-ball ton against Arunachal Pradesh on the same day.
Kishan's innings, featuring 125 runs off 39 balls with seven fours and 14 sixes at a strike rate of 320.51, propelled Jharkhand to a mammoth 412/9, leaving spectators enthralled and reaffirming his purple patch.
The left-hander's form builds on recent triumphs: just last week, he earned a surprise recall to India's T20 World Cup squad, following his starring role in Jharkhand's maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title win.
In that T20 campaign, Kishan amassed 517 runs, including a match-winning 101 off 49 balls in the final against Haryana—the third-fastest in a men's T20 tournament final—and became only the second player alongside Abhishek Sharma to score five centuries in SMAT history.
Kishan also etched his name as the joint-most prolific centurion in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy annals with five tons. Internationally, he holds the record for the fastest ODI double-century by an Indian, blistering 210 off 126 balls against Bangladesh in 2022. This domestic dominance underscores Kishan's match-turning prowess across formats.
