
Nagpur, 24 Dec
(HS): The Maharashtra Government has hiked the financial support for marriage
of the Persons with Disabilities (Divyang). In case of marriage between two PwD
(Persons with Disabilities) Rs 2.50 lakh will be deposited directly into the
joint account of the partners in the marriage. In case one of the person is
disabled Rs 1.50 lakh will be deposited through the Ministry of Divyang
Welfare.
The financial
support by the government is being extended to empower them. Out of the money
transferred 50 per cent can be used for buying essential commodities by the
newly married couple and the balance 50 per cent to be deposited as Fixed Deposit
for at least five years. The money will be deposited within 30 days of
receiving application by them. The prescribed application form is available
with the notification issued by the government and are available with the
Divyang Empowerment Officer at the Zilla Parishad’s Social Welfare Department.
In case of delay
in filing application form beyond one year of registration of the marriage, the
couple will be given any support by the Social Welfare Department. Thus, registration
of marriage is one of the essential conditions.
