Nadia, 23 December (H.S.): A court in Nadia district has delivered a major verdict in the 2022 gang rape and murder case of a minor girl in Hanskhali. On Tuesday, the Ranaghat court sentenced three convicts to life imprisonment in this high-profile case.

The court convicted Sohel Gayali, Prabhakar Poddar, and Ranjit Mallick and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Additionally, Samarendra Gayal, a panchayat member at the time, was sentenced to five years in prison in connection with the case.

Notably, in 2022, a minor girl was gang-raped and murdered in the Hanskhali area of Nadia. This heinous incident shook the entire state. Considering the gravity of the case, the CBI conducted the investigation under the court's direction.

This verdict, delivered nearly three years later, has given the victim's family some hope of justice. Upon the announcement of the sentence, the victim's family members became emotional in the court premises, and tears welled up in their eyes.
