Chennai, 23 December (H.S.) : The Election Commission of India has established special facilities across the city to assist citizens in updating their voter registration details. Starting from December 23, Booth Level Officers will be available at nine hundred and seventy-nine designated polling stations across all sixteen assembly constituencies in Chennai.
This special revision period will remain open until January 18, allowing residents to ensure their names are correctly recorded in the electoral roll. The initiative aims to provide a seamless experience for voters to add new names, delete entries, or make necessary corrections to existing information.
According to the authorities, these special centers will function from ten in the morning until six in the evening on all days, excluding public holidays. The draft voter list, which was recently published, has been made available for public review at all ward offices and designated polling stations.
Citizens can also verify their details online through the official Voters Service Portal of the Election Commission. For those whose names are missing from the draft list, the required application forms can be obtained directly from the Booth Level Officers at these locations and submitted on the spot after filling them out.
The Greater Chennai Corporation has advised the public to make use of this window to avoid last-minute hurdles. For further assistance or clarification regarding the registration process, citizens can contact the corporation’s control center by dialing the helpline number 1913.
Officials stated that this intensive revision process is crucial for maintaining an updated and error-free voter database. Statements from the commission emphasized that every eligible citizen should verify their registration to ensure their participation in future democratic processes. No special fees are required for these services at the designated government centers.
