Guwahati, 22 December (HS): The Basistha Police of Guwahati, with assistance from Khanapara Police under Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, have arrested three persons, including a scrap dealer, in connection with a theft case.

Police said on Monday that a team from Basistha Police Station first arrested two habitual thieves, Ikram Hussain (25) and Ijazul Haque (19), in connection with the incident. Acting on their disclosure, a joint search was conducted with Meghalaya Police at a scrap shop located at Them Marwet.

During the search, six 12-volt batteries, believed to be stolen property, were recovered and seized. Subsequently, the owner of the scrap shop, Ainul Haque (28), was also arrested for his alleged involvement in the case.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident and further legal proceedings are underway, police added.---------
