Howrah, 22 December (H.S.): A middle-aged man was allegedly murdered inside a residential flat in the Salkia area of Howrah district on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Debabrata Das (Pal). The police have detained two minors in connection with the case and have begun questioning them. Several questions have arisen regarding whether the murder was the result of a dispute or was premeditated.

The incident occurred in a flat on the fourth floor of a six-story apartment on Kaivartyapara Lane in Salkia, where Debabrata Das resided. The flat directly opposite his belonged to Pintoo Das, the building's secretary. On Monday, sounds of an argument followed by groans were heard coming from Debabrata's flat. The flat door was locked from inside. Hearing the commotion, other residents rushed to the scene and tried to open the door, but received no response from inside. After some time, the groaning also stopped.

Suspecting something serious, the residents broke down the flat door. Upon entering, they found Debabrata Das's body lying on the floor. There were bloodstains and injury marks on his face, ears, and other parts of his body. Two other teenagers were also found inside the flat. Pintoo Das's minor son was present on the balcony, while another teenager was lying on the bed inside the room, groaning softly. He is reportedly a friend of Pintoo Das's son.

Malipanchghara police station was immediately informed. The police arrived at the scene, found Debabrata Das dead, and sent the body for post-mortem. The teenager who was reportedly groaning was examined, and his physical condition was found to be completely normal, raising questions about whether he was faking his condition to protect himself. The police have also found several inconsistencies in the statements of the two minors.

The police have detained both minors and have begun questioning them.

As per information, Debabrata Das worked for a private company. He had divorced his wife about ten years ago. He has a daughter who lives with her maternal uncle. Devabrata's elderly mother usually lived with him, but at the time of the incident, she was visiting a relative's house. It was during this time that the sensational incident occurred.
