West Medinipur, 20 December (H.S.): A young man died and his wife sustained serious injuries in a road accident on a national highway in West Bengal's West Medinipur district on Saturday. Their minor child was also injured in the accident. According to police sources, the couple resided in the Behala area of Kolkata.

According to local sources, Partha Sarathi Ghosh was travelling from Kolkata to Odisha on his motorcycle on Saturday. His wife, Suparna Ghosh, and their minor child were also on the bike with him. Their motorcycle met with an accident on National Highway 16 in the Madpur area of the Kharagpur rural region.

As per information, Partha Sarathi Ghosh lost control of the bike and collided with a divider, causing all three to fall onto the road. Local residents immediately rescued them and informed the police. The police arrived at the scene shortly after information.

With the help of local residents, the police and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) transported the couple to Medinipur Medical College Hospital. Doctors on duty declared Partha Sarathi Ghosh dead. Suparna Ghosh is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, and her condition is reported to be critical.

According to the police, the child's condition is stable and he did not sustain serious injuries. However, he has lost his father in the accident, and his mother's condition remains critical. The police are trying to contact other members of the family. The Ghosh family is reportedly residents of Rai Bahadur Road in Behala, Kolkata.
