Guwahati, 20 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday warmly welcomed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at LGBI airport Guwahati. In his speech CM said that said that in the coming days, people would identify the alphabet “A” with Assam instead of Apple, reflecting the state’s growing recognition and development.
The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party had failed to honour Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi despite him being Assam’s first Chief Minister from the Congress. He said Bordoloi was never given due respect by the Congress during its long years in power.
Dr Sarma asserted that it was only the BJP-led government that had taken concrete steps to honour the legacy and contributions of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi. He added that the present government is committed to preserving Assam’s history, culture and the contributions of its great leaders.
