Lucknow,

17 Dec (HS): Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited organized a

one-day workshop on Wednesday related to the modernization of the transmission

system. Speaking at the workshop, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K.

Sharma said that Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited is today

one of the most prominent and reliable transmission utilities in the country.

He explained that Uttar Pradesh has consistently been the state with the

highest peak load in the country for many years, and the recent successful

handling of the maximum power demand of 31,486 MW is a testament to the state's

strong transmission network, sound planning, and technical expertise.

Minister

Sharma said that Uttar Pradesh, once known as a sick state, is today making

steady progress in every sector. Historic changes have taken place in the power

sector at all three levels: generation, transmission, and distribution. In the

last few years, electricity has been provided to nearly 150,000 villages and

settlements that previously lacked electricity. He added that the country is

rapidly advancing in the field of green energy and solar power. Solar energy

capacity has reached approximately 130 gigawatts, with Uttar Pradesh playing a

significant role. Uttar Pradesh ranks second in the country in the development

of green energy corridors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined a roadmap

for India's goal of net zero by 2070, in which the transmission system plays a

crucial role.

The

Energy Minister discussed both the achievements and the challenges in detail.

He stated that despite significant progress, there is still considerable room

for improvement. This workshop should seriously deliberate on technological

solutions, the use of modern equipment, and safe practices to completely

prevent electrical accidents. Furthermore, special attention needs to be paid

to cyber data challenges, cybersecurity, and making transmission systems more

secure and robust for the future.

These

prominent people were present in the program: In the program, Minister of State

for Energy Somendra Tomar, Additional Chief Secretary Energy Narendra Bhushan

and Chairman Ashish Goyal also stressed in their address on making the power

transmission system more robust, modern and reliable. They said that such

workshops play an important role in preparing the officers and technical

experts for future challenges. MD Mayur Maheshwari and Pankaj Kumar, along with

all the senior officers of the Electricity Department, Superintending

Engineers, Executive Engineers etc. from across the state were present on this

occasion. The live telecast of this program was seen at all the power

substations of the state.
