17 Dec (HS): Police announced on Wednesday that a criminal wanted in an
attempted murder case was detained following an interaction here. According to
reports, the accused is Khalid, a Meerut district inhabitant. A police squad
was patrolling in a private car on the Haroda-Pali road near Gagalhedi police
station on Tuesday night when a man signaled for them to halt, according to
Additional Superintendent of Police Priya Yadav.
When
the team stopped the car and sought to interrogate him, the suspect opened fire
on the cops with the intent to kill and fled.
According to Yadav, the suspect was overwhelmed after firing in
self-defense, resulting in gunshot injuries to his leg. The culprit was
admitted to a hospital, according to the ASP.
According
to the officer, a country-made handgun, two live rounds, and one expended
cartridge were discovered in his possession. According to Yadav, Khalid has
many criminal cases filed against him in Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur
districts, including allegations of attempted murder, theft, and violations of
the Arms Act and Gangster Act.
