Nadia, 17 December (H.S.): The blood-soaked body of a woman was recovered on Wednesday morning along the side of the Suter Hatkhola Road under Chakdaha police station area in Nadia district. The woman's identity had not been established at the time of filing of the news. According to local residents, the woman was approximately 30 years old.
On Wednesday morning, people going to the market saw the body lying there. They claimed that the woman's throat had been slit and she was covered in blood. On information, Chakdaha police station personnel reached the spot. The police took the body to Chakdaha State General Hospital and then sent it to Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital for post-mortem. The exact details of the incident will be known only after the post-mortem report is received.
The police have questioned local residents to identify the woman, but no one recognized her.
The police are also contacting nearby police stations for further confirmation.
Investigators suspect that the woman was from another area.
