
Murshidabad, 17 December (H.S.): A young man lost several fingers of his hand in a bomb blast at his home in Sagarpada area of Murshidabad district on Wednesday morning. The injured youth has been identified as 27-year-old Nazmul Haque.
The incident took place in Char Chakmari village, located near Bangladesh border, under Sagarpada police station in Murshidabad. Nazmul Haque was found in a pool of blood. He was taken to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Several fingers of the youth's hand were blown off in the explosion. He also sustained injuries on several other parts of his body. However, according to hospital sources, he is out of danger.
On information, Sagarpada police reached the village. Preliminary investigation revealed that the youth is involved in several criminal activities. The bomb was being transported during a smuggling operation in the border area. Later, while keeping the bomb at home, it exploded for some reason, seriously injuring the youth.
According to police sources, the injured person will be interrogated. Police security has been arranged to prevent the youth from escaping from the hospital.
Notably, a large number of bombs are being recovered from various districts of Murshidabad from time to time. Hundreds of bombs have reportedly been recovered this month alone.
