
Bhubaneswar, 17 December (H.S.): Adarsha Kumar Behera, an Odia youth from Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha who had gone missing in the African nation of Sudan, has been safely rescued and brought back to India following the efforts of the Government of India. He arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday and was received at the city airport.
The Odisha government remained in constant touch with Adarsha’s family throughout the ordeal and extended all necessary assistance. According to official sources, Adarsha had gone missing from El Fasher city in North Darfur State of Sudan. The Government of India secured his safe release with the help of international interlocutors.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed happiness over Adarsha’s safe return and thanked the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for its timely intervention. He said the state government stood firmly with the family and ensured close coordination at every stage.
It is noteworthy that after receiving information about Adarsha’s disappearance, the Chief Minister had expressed serious concern and, on his instructions, the Odisha government wrote to the MEA requesting urgent steps for his rescue. Additionally, the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi also wrote to the MEA, urging close coordination with the Indian Embassy in Sudan to trace Adarsha and facilitate his safe return.
Adarsha Kumar Behera, a resident of Kotakana village under Tirtol police station in Jagatsinghpur district, had been working in Sudan since 2022. His family later received information that he had gone missing and there was no trace of him. Through the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments, Adarsha was ultimately rescued and brought back home safely.
