
Bhubaneswar, 17 December (H.S.): The annual bird census in Odisha will commence from January 6, covering several key locations across the state, including Chilika Lake, Nalabana Bird Sanctuary, Mangalajodi, Hirakud Reservoir, and Nandankanan.
Sharing the information, Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia said that the Tourism Department would also extend support to the bird census exercise.
The minister added that, to further strengthen bird conservation efforts, the state government plans to construct modern watchtowers and enclosures at key sites. He also stated that strict surveillance would be maintained to curb the activities of poachers, ensuring the safety of both migratory and resident birds.
