
Bhubaneswar, 14 December (H.S.): Odisha continued to reel under cold wave conditions on Sunday, with at least 16 locations across the state recording minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Udayagiri emerged as the coldest place in the state, with the mercury plummeting to 3.1°C. Semiliguda recorded 4.6°C, while Phulbani registered a minimum of 5.5°C. Daringbadi and Koraput reported 6°C and 6.5°C respectively, and Chiplima recorded 7.8°C.
Other towns also experienced a significant dip in temperatures, with Nabarangpur and Rourkela recording 8°C each. Jharsuguda registered 8.2°C, Bhawanipatna 8.5°C, Angul 9°C, and Kirei 9.2°C. Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Boudh, and Sundargarh reported temperatures hovering around 10°C.
The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions, particularly the elderly and children, as cold conditions are expected to persist in several parts of the state over the coming days.
