Nagpur , 14 December (H.S.): The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly adjourned sine die on Sunday after a seven-day Winter Session marked by exceptional efficiency, with Speaker Rahul Narwekar proposing February 23, 2026, as the tentative start for the next sitting.

Narwekar highlighted the Lower House's robust performance, clocking 72 hours and 35 minutes of functioning time across the session—averaging 10 hours and 22 minutes daily—while disruptions consumed merely 10 minutes.

Held from December 8 to 14 amid heightened security with over 8,000 personnel deployed, the session navigated challenges like initial flight disruptions and local body poll codes, yet passed 18 bills, supplementary demands, and key resolutions on agriculture and finances.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed fiscal debates, farmer relief packages worth Rs 32,000 crore, and the state's trillion-dollar economy trajectory, underscoring legislative productivity despite a compressed calendar extending into the weekend.

The Nagpur session, honoring the Nagpur Pact tradition, featured tributes to RSS founders by BJP-Shiv Sena leaders and minimal adjournments after early procedural hiccups, reflecting Mahayuti coalition stability post recent polls.

Narwekar's productivity metrics position this as one of the state's most effective short sessions, setting a benchmark for future deliberations.
