Bhubaneswar, 14 December (H.S.): Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Sunday reacted to Opposition leader Naveen Patnaik’s decision to decline the enhanced salary, terming the move as purely political.

Singh Deo said that Naveen Patnaik had adequate opportunity to express his views on the issue on the floor of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. “He could have come to the Assembly and placed his stand there. Why did he not attend the House and why did he not raise his objections at that time?” Singh Deo questioned.

Stating that such actions amount to political posturing, the Deputy Chief Minister said the decision to refuse the enhanced salary was not based on principle but was aimed at drawing political mileage.
