Bareilly,
14 Dec (HS): Maulana Tauqeer Raza, who is now in jail for his suspected role in
the 'I Love Muhammad' incident here, has been charged with threatening a
95-year-old man and his family, seeking property ownership transfer, according
to police on Sunday. According to them, when the accused encountered opposition
from Mukaddar Beg while attempting to take his property, Raza's colleagues
reportedly invaded the nonagerarian's home, intimidated his family, misbehaved
with the ladies, and subjected the family to ongoing mental abuse. Shakir Beg,
Mukaddar Beg's son, was distressed by the pestering and swallowed poison. He has been brought to the district hospital
in severe condition. Shakir Beg's daughter, Laiba, filed the case on Saturday.
According
to the police, a case has been filed under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 333
(house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint),
352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 351(3)
(criminal intimidation), 75 (sexual harassment), and 61(2) (party to criminal
conspiracy) of the BNS. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag
Arya, the FIR names Maulana Tauqeer Raza, his brother-in-law Mohsin Raza,
Sharik Beg, Taufeeq Beg, Shahid Beg, Shavir, Shadiq, Ikram Beg, Irfan Beg, and
Vicky. The
charges are severe, involving property disputes, violence, molestation, and
aiding in suicide, he stated.
A
impartial investigation of all facts will be completed, and whomever is found
guilty will face severe legal consequences, according to authorities. According to the lawsuit, Maulana Tauqeer
Raza and Mohsin Raza conspired with Laiba's uncles -- Shariq Beg, Shahid Beg,
Shakir Beg, and Shahid Begm -- to coerce the 95-year-old man's relatives into
transferring the land to Shakir Beg's brothers. The lawsuit stated that in
order to grab the land, the accused intimidated the victim's family with guns
and issued severe death threats. Mohsin
Raza, Ikram Beg, and Vicky reportedly entered the residence and threatened the
family again, putting them under constant pressure, according to authorities. Shakir
Beg stated, For the past seven years, Maulana Tauqeer Raza, Mohsin Raza,
and Ikram Beg have been mentally and physically harassing our family. We
couldn't stand up to them because of their wealth and influence. Finally, tired up with the constant pain, I
took poison on December 11. A
quarrel over I Love Muhammad banners allegedly sparked violence in Bareilly on
September 26.
According
to police, rioters gathered at several sites across the city, reportedly
hurling petrol bombs at staff, resorting to stone-throwing and gunfire, and
looting weaponry, including a riot-control rifle. According to authorities,
more than two dozen officers were hurt during the incident. That night, 10
cases were filed at Kotwali, Baradari, Premnagar, Cantt, and Qila police
stations. Investigations into two major
cases lodged in Kotwali and Baradari were ultimately moved to the Crime Branch.
According
to the police, 19 people were initially charged in the crime, but 55 more were
identified throughout the investigation. A chargesheet has been filed against
38 of the defendants, accompanied with proof. According to the police, Raza is
presently in Fatehgarh jail, while his close aide Nafees and numerous other
suspects are in Bareilly jail.
