Tamulpur, 14 December (HS): Several commercial establishments were completely reduced to ashes in a devastating fire that broke out at Nagrijuli Market Chowk in Assam’s Tamulpur district on Sunday.

According to preliminary estimates, the blaze caused property losses amounting to nearly ₹50 lakh. The fire spread rapidly through the closely packed shops, leaving traders helpless as their businesses were destroyed within a short span of time.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control after sustained efforts. However, by then, multiple shops had already been gutted. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

No casualties were reported in the incident. Local authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine the cause and assess the extent of damage, while affected traders have urged the administration for immediate relief and compensation.----------
