14 Dec (HS): Late Saturday night, the police team from the Uttar Pradesh police
station in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh had an encounter with an
inter-state thief. Police admitted the injured to the hospital for treatment.
Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Sunday
that on December 2, unknown thieves stole an e-rickshaw from the Uttar Pradesh
police station area. Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered a
case and were searching for the thieves. During the investigation, the names of
the accused, Shiva alias Bhura alias Ajay, a resident of Etah, and two of his
associates came to light.
Late
Saturday night, Uttar Pradesh police station in-charge Anjish Kumar was
patrolling the area with the police team when they received information that
the wanted accused, Shiva alias Bhura, along with two of his associates, had
brought a stolen e-rickshaw to the forest near Bendi culvert and was looking to
sell it.
Upon
receiving information, the police team cordoned off the area and the wanted
accused opened fire. In self-defense, the police team fired back, injuring the
accused in the leg. Meanwhile, two of his accomplices fled the scene. Accused
Shiva was admitted to the hospital under police custody. The police recovered a
pistol with cartridges and a stolen e-rickshaw from him. The ASP said that the
police team is searching for the absconding accused.
