
Guwahati, 13 December (HS): Panic spread in Guwahati’s Beltola area on Saturday after a daring daylight theft was reported from an unattended house, highlighting growing concerns over daytime burglaries in the city.
According to police sources, miscreants broke into a locked residence in Beltola while the occupants were away and decamped with valuables. The incident triggered alarm among local residents, who expressed concern over the audacity of thieves operating in broad daylight.
Acting swiftly, a team from Basistha Police Station launched an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint. Within six hours of the theft, police successfully tracked down and arrested the accused from the Hatigaon area.
The arrested individual has been identified as Jiyabur Rahman. Police said legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other similar cases.----------
