
Kolkata, 11 December (H.S.) : Winter has set in firmly across West Bengal, with cold winds blowing from the north pushing temperatures below normal in most districts. According to Thursday’s weather bulletin, the chill is expected to persist through the week, and there is no forecast of rainfall for now.
Kolkata’s minimum temperature is expected to hover around 15°C on Thursday. The city remained enveloped in dense morning fog, though clearer skies are likely as the day progresses. The Met office said colder conditions are expected after sunset, with both day and night temperatures currently running below normal. By the middle of next week, the minimum may dip further to around 14°C.
In the western districts of Bankura and Purulia, temperatures are likely to range between 11°C and 13°C. Coastal districts will remain comparatively warmer. Light to moderate fog is expected in the mornings, gradually lifting by afternoon.
North Bengal continues to experience a distinctly pleasant winter. Darjeeling recorded a minimum temperature of around 4°C today, and the Met office expects temperatures in the hill region to fluctuate between 4°C and 6°C next week. In contrast, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri are likely to see minimum temperatures in the 13°C to 15°C range. Dense fog is expected to persist across all northern districts.
