Varanasi,
11 Dec (HS): Professionals and artisans from Tamil Nadu, participating in the
fourth edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, being held in Varanasi, Uttar
Pradesh, took a holy dip in the Ganges River at Hanuman Ghat on Thursday. After
bathing and meditating, everyone worshipped Mother Ganga with devotion.
Following the bath, the Tamil group visited and worshipped the ancient temples
located on the ghat. During this, everyone was informed about the temples'
history.
Following
this, the Tamil delegation visited the home of the great poet Subramania
Bharati at Hanuman Ghat. They met with the poet's third-generation family
members. The group was eager to learn more about the great poet. They also
visited the library near Subramania Bharati's home. After visiting the poet's
home, the group visited the Kanchi Matha and learned about its history. The
group of professionals and artisans were enthralled by the South Indian temple
at Hanuman Ghat in Kashi.
V.
Chandrashekhar Dravid Ghanpathi, who explained the history of Kashi to the Tamil
group, explains that Kedar Ghat and Hanuman Ghat are neighborhoods where people
from South India have lived for generations. Now, they have all become Kashi
residents. Some have lived here for five generations, some for ten. All of them
are assimilating the local traditions and moving forward with their own
traditions. In a way, a shared culture of North India and South India has
developed in Mahadev's Kashi. This group of professionals and artisans will
attend several other events in Kashi and then arrive at Namo Ghat in the
evening.
