
Srinagar, 11 December (H.S.): In a major action under the ongoing “Drugs Free Kulgam” campaign, police in Kulgam apprehended two alleged drug peddlers at a checkpoint on Furrah Bypass and recovered a substantial quantity of charas-like contraband from their possession.
In a statement, In this regard, police party headed by Police Post Mirbazar established a checkpoint (Naka) at Furrah Bypass. During checking two persons roaming in suspicious circumstances after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot. However, they were chased and apprehended tactfully.
After checking, officers present were able to recover 115 grams of Charas like contraband substance from their possession. They have been identified as Javaid Gulzar Ganie and Shahid Mushtaq Bhat both residents of Furrah.
Regarding this incident, a Case FIR No. 252/2025 U/S 8/20, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been set into motion, it reads.
General public is requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police Kulgam in eradicating the drug menace from the society as Drugs are consuming the precious lives and career of our young generation, reads the statement.
