11 Dec (HS): A 25-year-old man from Kushinagar was detained by police in Uttar
Pradesh's Ballia district for allegedly abducting and raping his 19-year-old
cousin, according to an official on Thursday. According to the police, the
accused, who is the victim's maternal aunt's son, paid frequent visits to her
home. According to authorities, the suspect seduced and abducted the victim on
November 25. On November 27, a FIR was
filed against the accused under Section 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in
response to a complaint submitted by the victim's father. Officials said that
the abducted woman was retrieved by police two days ago. The
victim claimed in her police reports and subsequently in court that the accused
kidnapped, raped, and threatened her life.
According
to the police, charges of rape and criminal intimidation were added to the case
based on her allegation. Omveer Singh, the Superintendent of Police, stated
that the offender was detained on Wednesday night.
