
Nagpur, 11 Dec (HS): A leopard strayed into residential
area in Pardi area of Nagpur city and posed serious threat to the residents.
The leopard injured seven people. The Forest Officials had work hard to
tranquilise the ferocious leopard and cage it. Later it was transported to
Transit Treatment Centre.
The leopard menace in the residential areas in entire
Vidarbha region, has raised the issue of its growing population. The issue is
expected to be debated in both the Houses of the State Legislature during its ongoing
winter session in Nagpur.
FUNDS CRUNCH AT TTC: The vehicle transporting the
caged leopard to the TTC in Nagpur broke down midway. The TTC team which
rescued the leopard in a daredevil operation had to again shift the cage to
another vehicle. The Forest Officials have been demanded adequate staff and
funds for modern equipment and vehicles. Even the cage which carried the leopard
was not in proper condition.
The growing man-animal conflict has been an important
issue of discussion.

Sharad Sonone entered the House dressed a leopard. Trying to grab the attention
on the backdrop of leopard straying the human settlements in Nagpur.
Sonone on Tuesday had raised the issue of rising
threat from leopard straying into residential areas, in various districts in
Maharashtra. Sonone demanded immediate steps to curb the menace.
