
Mumbai, 11 Dec (HS): Security at Mumbai airport was
beefed up and police started investigation following series of e-mails
threatening to blast a foreign aircraft were received on Thursday. Police have
registered an offence against the unknown person(s) and are searching for the
source of the e-mail.
The Investigating Officer told on Thursday that the
sender of the e-mail claimed that bombs have already been placed in aircraft going
to Japan, Canada, Germany an Australia. The bombs will blast about 30 minutes
after take-off. The ransom of 10 million dollars was demanded for avoiding the
blasts.
The Anti-Terrorism Square (ATS) and Cyber Wing of the
Airports Security Force started investigation and flights were allowed to
take-off after extra checking. Checking of baggage has also been intensified.
