Guwahati, 11 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday paid a profound tribute to former President Pranab Mukherjee on his birth anniversary, recalling his extraordinary journey and six-decade-long service to the nation.
In a message, the Chief Minister described Mukherjee as a “towering personality” whose public life reflected exceptional commitment, wisdom and statesmanship. He noted that Mukherjee, who began his career as an Upper Division Clerk in the office of the Deputy Accountant General in Kolkata, went on to become the 13th President of India — a rare rise marked by dedication and national service.
Dr. Sarma said the Bharat Ratna awardee’s contributions shaped India’s political discourse, unified voices across party lines and strengthened democratic foundations. “We pay our heartfelt tribute to the great leader who devoted his entire life to the nation,” the Chief Minister added.--------
