
Bhubaneswar, 10 December (H.S.) : A high-level review meeting on the Gangua Nala Improvement Project was held at Kharavela Bhavan under the chairmanship of Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development. The meeting focused on the comprehensive enhancement of Nicco Park and its surrounding areas, alongside strengthened stormwater management to address long-standing urban drainage challenges.
The meeting was attended by MLA Babu Singh, Principal Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Usha Padhee, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner-cum-Vice Chairman of BDA Chanchal Rana, and other senior officials from relevant departments.
During the session, Minister Mahapatra emphasised the need to accelerate project implementation to ensure visible improvements in urban infrastructure ahead of the upcoming monsoon. He directed officials to adopt an integrated approach, ensuring that the revitalisation of Nicco Park precincts, enhancement of public amenities, and restoration of the Gangua Nala ecosystem progress simultaneously.
Principal Secretary Usha Padhee highlighted the importance of coordinated inter-agency action to implement effective drainage solutions. BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana updated attendees on ongoing works, current bottlenecks, and proposed timelines for completion.
The Minister instructed all departments to promptly resolve pending issues and ensure the project delivers safe, clean, and accessible urban spaces for Bhubaneswar’s residents. The meeting concluded with a commitment to closely monitor progress and adhere strictly to quality standards and deadlines.
