Kolkata, 10 December (H.S.) :

The Siliguri Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday carried out a major operation and seized 250 kilograms of ganja from a goods-laden truck. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Farikul Miyan, a resident of Cooch Behar district, has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking. The operation was conducted in the Jiaganj area of Fulbari along the Siliguri–Jalpaiguri National Highway.

According to STF sources, the team intercepted a suspicious heavy goods truck at the location and conducted a thorough search. During the inspection, a large quantity of ganja was recovered from a secret chamber built inside the vehicle. Following the seizure, the truck driver was taken into custody.

The STF said the consignment was being transported from Cooch Behar to Bihar as part of a planned smuggling operation. The arrested accused will be produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Thursday.
