Guwahati, 09 August (HS): Barak Legends secured a thrilling three-wicket victory over Barpeta Braves in the Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League on Sunday, sealing the match with a six off the final delivery.

Chasing a target of 130, Barak Legends needed five runs from the last ball. New batsman Bhargav Pratim Lahkar smashed a six to take his team to a dramatic victory. Barak finished at 131 for seven in 20 overs to register their second consecutive win.

Vishal Saha (13) and Aman Singh (22) provided a steady start, while captain Shiv Shankar Roy anchored the innings with a crucial 41 off 31 balls, including two sixes. He remained at the crease until the 19th over and kept Barak's hopes alive despite regular wickets falling. Kunal Sharma and Arun Sonar took two wickets each for Barpeta.

The victory took Barak Legends to eight points from five matches, placing them second in the points table. Barpeta Braves, who had won their previous two matches, suffered their third defeat of the tournament.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Barak captain Shiv Shankar elected to field. Their bowlers made good use of the damp wicket and reduced Barpeta to 44 for five, with their major batters, including captain Dennis, failing to make an impact.

Abhilash Mourya top-scored with 47, while Bikiran Das contributed 29. The pair added 50 runs for the sixth wicket to help Barpeta recover. Mourya also added 33 runs with Arun Sonar (6) for the seventh wicket as Barpeta reached 129 for eight in 20 overs.

In Monday's fixtures, Tezpur Titans will face Jorhat Stallions at 2 pm, while Dibrugarh Warriors will take on Guwahati Royals at 7 pm.
