New Delhi, 06 August (H.S.): India’s top-ranked and world No. 27 para table tennis player Nurjahan Noorali Jamani is set to represent the country at the ITTF World Para Future Lahti 2026 in Finland. The tournament will be held from August 28 to 30 at the Pajulahti Olympic Training Centre.
Nurjahan will enter the competition following an impressive performance at the ITTF World Para Future Aktobe in Kazakhstan, where she reached the quarterfinal stage. She narrowly missed out on a place in the semifinals by just two points. The performance reflected her consistent improvement and growing confidence on the international stage.
In a statement, Nurjahan said, Reaching the quarterfinals in Kazakhstan and missing out on a semifinal spot by such a narrow margin gave me a lot of confidence. Now, I want to perform even better in Finland. My goal is to win the title. The support from Adani Sportsline is helping me continue competing at the global level, and I am extremely grateful for it.
Currently ranked eighth in Asia in her category, Nurjahan aims to break into the top six and secure qualification for the 2026 Asian Para Games, which will be held in Japan. In this context, the Lahti tournament will be extremely important for improving her ranking.
Affected by polio at the age of five, Nurjahan returned to competitive table tennis in 2022 and has since achieved consistent success. She successfully defended her title at the UTT Para Senior National Championships 2025-26 held in Indore. Earlier, she had also won the UTT National Para Table Tennis Championships. These achievements helped her become India’s No. 1 player in her category.
A resident of Ahmedabad, Nurjahan works as a Junior Officer at Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL). Under Adani Sportsline’s ‘Garv Hai’ initiative, she receives comprehensive support for tournament planning, coaching, performance analysis and participation in international competitions.
Nurjahan will now look to deliver a strong performance in Finland, strengthen her position in the Asian rankings and take a significant step towards qualifying for the 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan.
