Rs 1.5 Crore Cash, Gold and Silver Recovered From Flood-Submerged Bank Branch in Nepal

Kathmandu, 31 August (H.S.):

Cash, gold, silver and other valuables have been safely recovered from the Trishuli-Dhunge branch of Nepal's Agriculture Development Bank in Nuwakot after the branch was submerged in the Bhotekoshi River flood.

According to police, around Rs 1.5 crore in Nepalese currency, gold valued at approximately Rs 50 crore, and important documents were recovered from the flood-affected branch.

The recovery operation was carried out on Sunday. Police personnel worked continuously for nearly eight hours to retrieve the cash, precious metals, documents and other valuable items from the submerged premises and move them to a secure location.

The Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river system was severely affected by a devastating flash flood earlier this week, causing extensive damage to settlements and infrastructure in several parts of Nepal. Rescue and recovery operations remain underway in the affected areas.
