Hooghly, 16 August (H.S.): Social worker and blood donor Shani Singh donated blood for the 73rd time at the Shramajibi Blood Centre near the volleyball ground in Rishra on Sunday.

Singh has been associated with blood donation for the past 23 years and has contributed not only through regular blood donations but also by helping organise blood donation camps.

According to information provided by the organisation, Singh has donated blood across 24 districts in 14 states of the country. Several members of his family have also been involved in blood donation for a long time.

Singh is the national president of the Shobha Jeev Kalyan Trust. The organisation said that 41 blood donation camps have so far been organised as part of its activities to promote voluntary blood donation.

The initiatives are aimed at helping patients in need of blood and creating greater awareness about voluntary blood donation, with participation from people at the local level.

On the occasion of his 73rd blood donation, Singh appealed to people to come forward for regular blood donation and extend support to patients requiring blood.

According to the organisation, a total of 51 people donated blood during Sunday’s camp.
