Bhagwat said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to remember the
sacrifices of freedom fighters and keep the independence of the country intact.
He was speaking after hoisting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh flag at its
headquarters in Nagpur's Mahal area on Saturday.
Dr Bhagwat
said that Independence Day is a day of pride and joy for the country. The
countrymen struggled in various ways for 90 years, from the revolt of 1857
until independence in 1947, and many sacrificed their lives for the country. It
is the duty of every citizen to preserve the freedom and make the country
stronger, safer and happier India still faces many challenges. He urged the
citizens to contribute responsibly towards the unity, security and development
of the country and make it ‘Vishwaguru.
India's progress should not be limited to economic
or national development. Bhagwat said the country should move towards
contributing to the welfare of the entire humanity through its capabilities and
values.
