New Delhi, 13 August (H.S.): India’s automobile industry continued to maintain strong momentum in July despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia, with vehicle sales reaching their highest-ever level during the month. Passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers recorded particularly strong performances, driving a 34.3 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic wholesale passenger vehicle sales.

According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Thursday, domestic wholesale passenger vehicle sales rose 34.3 per cent year-on-year in July to 457,810 units, compared with 340,772 units in the same month last year.

Two-wheeler sales also registered substantial growth during the month. Total wholesale two-wheeler sales increased 22.6 per cent year-on-year to 1,923,483 units in July, up from 1,569,120 units in July 2025.

Wholesale sales of three-wheelers likewise climbed 33.4 per cent to 92,560 units in July, compared with 69,403 units during the corresponding period a year earlier.

Commenting on the industry’s performance, SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said the automobile industry recorded its strongest-ever sales in July, with broad-based growth across all segments.

He said the positive momentum that has continued for several months is also carrying into the festive season. Menon expressed optimism that robust consumer sentiment would continue to support demand and sustain the industry’s growth trajectory.
