Lecture on 'Hindi language in era of AI' held at Hindi

University

Prayagraj/Wardha, August 01 (HS): A special lecture on

Hindi Language in the Age of AI was organized at the Regional

Centre of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha/Prayagraj. The

special speaker was internationally renowned information technology scholar, Balendu

Sharma Dadhich, Chief Executive Officer, Algo Technology, Dubai, and Founder,

Reskillnation. Balendu Sharma Dadhich stated that the possibility of AI

achieving near-human-like translation in the coming years is not impossible.

The advent of generative AI has transformed the capabilities of machines in the

field of language. Language is not merely a medium for the exchange of ideas,

but it is the first technology in human history and modern

technology. He stated in his lecture that if the world's languages are viewed

like buildings, they may appear distinct on the surface, but at the foundation,

they are all interconnected. Great linguists have said that almost every

subject in the world, including mathematics and science, is actually a

sub-subject of language. In this age of artificial intelligence (AI) and modern

technology, the relationship between language and technology has become even

more profound and relevant. He said that in some sense, language is technology,

in some sense, technology is language, and mathematics is the language of

technology. He attempted to explain this statement in detail through a PPT.

Presiding over the event, the University's Vice Chancellor,

Professor Kumud Sharma, stated that language coordinates collective action.

Integrating language with technology is essential in current times. She added

that the National Education Policy 2020 places special emphasis on the Indian

knowledge tradition, technological integration, and the use of AI. She added

that AI and machine translation are essential today, but we must be careful not

to weaken our linguistic and human capabilities by relying solely on

technology.

Professor Sharma further stated that language has always

been central to the Indian knowledge tradition, even in its oral tradition.

India is a culturally rich country, sustained by languages. Therefore, when

languages disappear, culture also declines. This is perhaps why the National

Education Policy emphasizes the preservation and teaching of mother tongues. AI

and language have combined to create a platform for the new generation to

understand linguistic culture.

In her welcome address, Professor Preeti Sagar, Dean of the

University of Languages, said, Balendu Sharma Dadhich is a wizard of

technology. He is raising the flag of Hindi in the field of Hindi

technology. Introducing the chief guest in detail, Professor Akhilesh

Kumar Dubey, Academic Director of the Center, said that Balendu Sharma Dadhich

has held the position of Director at Microsoft and is doing important work in

the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and language technology. Over the

past 25 years, he has reached over 150,000 people through his workshops,

training programs, lectures, etc. in more than 15 countries.

Chief Guest Balendu Sharma Dadhich was welcomed by the

Academic Director and senior teachers of the centre by presenting him a bouquet

of flowers, a garland of cotton, a memento and a shawl. The vote of thanks was

given by Dr. Supriya Pathak, Associate Professor, Department of Women's Studies

and the programme was successfully coordinated and conducted by Dr. Vijaya

Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics.

In the special lecture, Dr. Avantika Shukla, Head of the

Department of Women's Studies, Dr. Asha Mishra, Dr. Akhtar Alam, Dr. Mithilesh

Kumar Tiwari, Dr. Satyaveer, Jayendra Jaiswal, Subhash Srivastava, Rahul

Tripathi, Rashmi, Pratyush Shukla, Geeta Devi and Devmurti Dwivedi, Birju

Prasad, Jagjivan Ram Prajapati, Rohit Kumar, Abhishek Chandra, Pitambar Gautam

along with researchers and students of the Centre were present. Dr. H.A.

Hungund, Head of the Department of Linguistics, Prof. Anil Kumar Pandey and

others were present through online medium.
