
MOSCOW, July 9 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Italy is expelling two military attaches from the Russian Embassy in Rome following the arrest of suspects in an espionage case, with the diplomats required to leave the country within three days, Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said on Thursday.
The Italian government has decided to expel two military attaches from the Russian Embassy in Italy, Tajani wrote on X.
The employees must leave Italy within three days, he added.
On June 7, Italian carabinieri arrested two people on charges of allegedly acting in Russia's interests, with five other individuals subjected to searches. The suspects include four active-duty military personnel, while the main suspects are retired intelligence officers.
