New Delhi, 06 July (H.S.):
Persistent heavy rainfall in Mumbai has significantly disrupted operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). Between 12:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on July 6, a total of 17 flights were cancelled, while 217 flights operated behind schedule. In view of the continuing adverse weather conditions, Akasa Air and IndiGo have issued travel advisories for passengers.
The continuous downpour has made Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport one of the country's most disrupted travel hubs. With no immediate signs of improvement in weather conditions, airlines have urged passengers to remain updated on the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
Akasa Air stated that heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Pune and Goa could lead to delays across parts of its network. The airline advised passengers to check the latest status of their flights before travelling to the airport, acknowledging that the weather-related disruptions may affect travel plans.
The airline said the situation was entirely beyond its control but assured passengers that its teams were available to provide all necessary assistance. It requested travellers to verify their flight status before departing for the airport.
IndiGo also issued a travel advisory, stating that adverse weather conditions in Mumbai could affect flight schedules. The airline said it was continuously monitoring the weather and making every effort to ensure passengers reached their destinations safely and with minimal inconvenience.
IndiGo urged passengers to stay informed about the latest flight status through its official website or mobile application and assured them that its teams remained available to assist and support travellers throughout their journey. The airline also thanked passengers for their patience and understanding amid the weather-related disruptions.
